NEW DELHI: In view of the alarming rise in

Covid

 cases in

Maharashtra

 (the state recorded 57,074 cases on Sunday), the

Uddhav Thackeray

 government has announced complete lockdown on weekends across the state. This is in addition to the night curfew that will be applicable every day from 8pm to 7am. Also, prohibitory orders issued under section 144 will remain in force during the day time.

What is open

  • All government offices and industrial units will operate at 50 per cent capacity

  • There will be only takeaway services at hotels, restaurants & roadside stalls, and home delivery services during the day hours

  • Autos, taxis and buses will run at 50 per cent capacity

  • Newspaper production distribution will be allowed as part of essential services

  • Vegetable markets will function by maintaining social distancing norms

  • Schools and colleges will remain open only for conducting Class X and Class XII exams

  • Films and serial shootings are allowed with Covid norms,

    Rt-PCR

     tests, from April 10

 

What is closed

 

  • There will be no religious, social, cultural or political functions of any kind

  • All recreational places like malls, theatres, bars, gyms, salons, spas, video parlours, clubs, swimming pools, water parks, sports complexes will also remain closed.

  • Private offices have to work from home, while schools, colleges and tuition classes will remain shut
